June 14th Flag Day Event

Please put Flag Day, June 14, 2019, on your calendars! The Batavia Flag Day Committee, in coordination with the Fox Valley Patriotic Organization, will be hosting a Flag Day event from 6:00-9:00 pm on Batavia’s Riverwalk. Entertainment will include a free concert by the Batavia Community Band, a community sing-along of patriotic favorites, Riverwalk luminarias, food vendors, and a variety of activities and performances for the entire family to enjoy! A presentation on the Flag Day Monument that will be built next spring on the Riverwalk and unveiled on June 14, 2020, will be shared, and signature bricks that will be a part of the monument’s base will be for sale that evening, too.

On this same evening, you will also be able to participate in the Second Friday in downtown Batavia which includes arts and crafts, local business offerings, food and drink specials, etc.

Please save the date of June 14 for a fun-filled summer evening for all in downtown Batavia, and help us celebrate Batavia’s place in the history of America’s Flag Day!

July 4th Concert

The Batavia Fireworks Committee is busy preparing for another memorable 4th of July Sky Concert in Engstrom Park and the south lawn of Batavia High School. For the thousands of participants who come every year to enjoy an evening of great music, delicious food, and breathtaking fireworks, July 4th is one of the best nights of the year!

To make this Sky Concert happen each year, we need the support of the entire Batavia community. If you’d like to support the planning for this joyful celebration, please check out our website at www.bataviafireworks.org to make a monetary donation, become a show sponsor, learn more about the annual Citywide Garage Sales May 3-4 (host fees from which go to pay for the fireworks show), or sign up to help sell ice cream on July 4th at the Batavia Fireworks Committee tent.

At this year’s Sky Concert, you can also learn more about Batavia’s Flag Day Monument by stopping by the Fireworks Committee tent. This monument, which is a salute to Dr. Bernard Cigrand, a Batavia dentist who is credited for being the Father of Flag Day in our country, will be built next spring on Batavia’s Riverwalk, and dedicated on June 14, 2020. You’ll also have the opportunity to buy a signature brick during this evening’s festivities which will help build the base of the Flag Day Monument.

It truly takes a village to raise the $40,000 and provide the manpower it takes each year to put on this phenomenal fireworks experience. A small group of people comprise the Batavia Fireworks Committee that coordinates this event each year. Please consider supporting this annual celebration of America’s birthday with your time, talents and resources. We each can make a difference, and provide another fantastic holiday for all of us in our beloved community!

We’re looking forward to another wonderful Sky Concert with all of our neighbors and friends! See you at Engstrom Park on July 4th (6:00-10:00pm)!
